FDC EXHIBITIONS
Female Design Council champions womxn in design and art via a unique curated collection of exhibitions featuring masterful work made by womxn. Since 2016, Founder & Executive Director Lora Appleton has curated annual exhibitions featuring artists and designers who are pushing the boundaries of innovation, beauty, fabrication and craft. By partnering with brands, art fairs and institutions, FDC continues to feature and highlight creative and exceptional work made by womxn, both introducing new artists and designers as well as celebrating masters in their field. These shows serve as a platform for talent spotting with many of the creators and artisans going on to be represented by global galleries, having their work purchased in respected collections and museum acquistions.

Upon Further Reflection featured both lauded and emerging AAPI, female-identified artists & designers of all backgrounds, acknowledging the diversity within the Asian community; the differences and beauty within. Artists & Designers included: Ellen Pong, Rosie Li, Soft Geometry, Jialun Xiong, Moving Mountains, Windy Chien, Ti Chang, Susan Maddux, Jean Pelle, Lynn Lin, Teruko Kushi, Caroline Chao, Tina Scepanovic, Pooja Pawaskar, Bowen Liu, Jean Lee, Urvi Sharma, Virginia Sin.
CRAFT IN TRANSITION / 2022

Craft in Transition featured the dynamic artwork of 12 established and emerging artists and designers of the Female Design Council with Carl Hansen & Søn’s heritage furniture in a collaborative exhibition that celebrated craftsmanship, process and thoughtful design. Makers included: Anna Rindos, Arati Rao, Arielle Assouline - Lichten, Colleen Carlson, Dee Clements, Elodie Blanchard, Fernanda Uribe, Kate Danessa, Kristin Victoria Barron, Luam Melake, Rhinanon Griego and Yolande Milan Batteau.

UPAW Kickoff
Inaugural UPSTATE ART WEEKEND featuring work by Artist, Johanna Goodman. UPAW launched in 2020 welcoming thousands of visitors to the Upstate NY region annually.
EVOLVED RESOLVE / LA DESIGN FEST / 2020
Evolved Resolve, in conjunction with Incollect & the Los Angeles Design Festival was presented as a virtual showcase (during Covid) featuring 40 Innovative Womxn Designers. This exhibition was launched to coincide with the FDC inaugrual Black Female Design Grant.
